'Children of the Valley'
Writer, Director, Executive Producer
Nestled in the Welsh valleys is a story of brotherhood as three friends explore what bonds them and what the future holds.
Noah and Gethin, revisit memories of their teenage lives living in a small village in the valleys of South Wales. Told in various flashbacks - fond memories of their younger years come flooding back, along with the memory of a third friend, Owain.
This project was our dissertation equivalent short film which was in production during our final year at The University of Winchester. Set and shot entirely in my hometown of Abercarn in South Wales, 'Children of the Valley' was inspired by the memories I had growing up in a small, boring, old village in the valleys with my friends, and explores themes of existentialism and the sense of uncertainty for the future which I felt during my teenage years before discovering my passion for filmmaking.
This project acts as my first big step in making a lasting contribution to Welsh cinema. A personal goal I have set for my career as a filmmaker.
